1. Create Your Account
Getting started with BuildLedger takes just a few minutes. Visit our registration page and enter your details.
Tip: Use your business email address. You'll use this to log in and receive notifications.
2. Set Up Your Business Profile
After creating your account, you'll be prompted to set up your business profile. This information appears on your invoices and client portal.
You can also upload your logo, which will appear on invoices and the client portal.
3. Create Your First Project
Projects are the core of BuildLedger. Each project represents a construction job and contains all related invoices, photos, schedules, and documents.
- Click Projects in the main navigation
- Click New Project
- Enter the project details:
- Project name (e.g., "Smith Residence Extension")
- Site address
- Contract value (optional)
- Start and end dates (optional)
- Click Create Project
4. Add a Client
Link a client to your project to send invoices and give them portal access.
- Go to Clients in the navigation
- Click Add Client
- Enter their details (name, email, phone, address)
- Save the client
- Go back to your project and link the client
Note: When you add a client's email, they can receive invoice notifications and access the client portal.
5. Invite Team Members
If you have staff who need access to BuildLedger, you can invite them to your business.
- Go to Settings → Team
- Click Invite Team Member
- Enter their email address
- Select their role:
- Admin – Full access to everything
- Staff – Can manage projects and invoices
- Viewer – Read-only access
- Send the invitation
They'll receive an email with a link to create their account and join your business.
