Safety Overview
BuildLedger helps you maintain safe, compliant worksites with integrated safety management tools. Track who's on site, ensure everyone has completed inductions, and keep SWMS documents organized.
Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
SWMS are required for high-risk construction work in Australia. BuildLedger helps you create, store, and manage SWMS documents.
Creating a SWMS
- Go to Safety → SWMS
- Click Create SWMS
- Select a template or start from scratch
- Define the high-risk work activity
- Identify hazards and control measures
- Add responsible persons
- Save and link to project
Reminder: SWMS must be reviewed and signed by all workers before starting high-risk work. BuildLedger tracks digital signatures.
Site Inductions
Every worker must complete a site induction before starting work. BuildLedger provides digital inductions that workers can complete on their phone.
Setting Up Site Inductions
- Go to the project's Safety tab
- Click Configure Induction
- Add induction content:
- Site-specific hazards
- Emergency procedures
- First aid locations
- Site rules and PPE requirements
- Add acknowledgement checkboxes
- Save the induction
QR Code Sign-In
Track who's on site with QR code sign-in. Workers scan the code when they arrive and leave, creating an automatic attendance log.
Setting Up QR Sign-In
- Go to the project's Safety tab
- Click Generate Site QR Code
- Print the QR code poster
- Display at site entrance
Benefits
- Know who's on site in case of emergency
- Automatic time tracking for workers
- No paperwork or sign-in sheets
- Historical records for compliance
Incident Reporting
Report and track safety incidents, near-misses, and hazards. BuildLedger helps you document everything for compliance and continuous improvement.
Reporting an Incident
- Go to Safety → Incidents
- Click Report Incident
- Fill in the details:
- Date, time, and location
- Type of incident (injury, near miss, property damage)
- Description of what happened
- People involved
- Immediate actions taken
- Upload photos if available
- Submit the report
Important: Notifiable incidents must be reported to SafeWork within 48 hours. BuildLedger can generate the required documentation.
